And So It Begins

We officially started our drive today! After a week of packing up our apartment, giving tearful goodbyes to friends and family and preparing for this trip and the move, it's pretty surreal that we are actually on the road, like, this is happening. For real.

Our first leg today began in Birmingham and ended in Clinton, Oklahoma, a little town near the Texas boarder. Here's a picture of our route today:

Also, meet Jarvis the Yaris. We've already grown fond of our slight but courageous chariot. I tried to get a good picture of how PACKED it is with all of our stuff, but you'll just have to take my word for it. Poor little thing!

I'm excited to post pictures of all the awesome things we'll see on this drive, but today was full trees and some plains and some road work. Here are the highlights:

In other important news, I finished reading the Chronicles of Narnia last night. It was my first time ever reading through them all! Lewis ends the whole adventure with these words, which are so pertinent to us now, that as this next chapter in our lives has finally begun, there is a Greater Adventure that will make all this be but shadows:

"And for us this the end of all the stories, and we can most truly say that they all lived happily ever after. But for them it was only the beginning of the real story. All their life in this world and all their adventures in Narnia had only been the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on for ever: in which every chapter is better than the one before."

Such a great quote and perf timing girl. I read those in 5th grade (#bragging) but am 100% confident there is no way i understood the full meaning behind them and have long sense wanted to reread them. Perhaps before I visit... :)
